Consulting and Business Advisory Services

The Foundation has advised many organizations, directly or through their consultants, on a variety of matters pertaining to their business and cultural requirements in the US and is the first port of call for many Scottish businesses and cultural organizations in the US.

Many commercial organizations have called upon the expertise and knowledge of the Foundation to help make their trips to the US as successful as possible.

The Foundation is also called upon regularly in the US by a wide range of US entities seeking information and guidance on matters having to do with Scotland. These have included Harpers Bazaar, Sex and the City, and the Smithsonian Institute.

The Foundation has provided a variety of pro bono consulting and advisory services for a broad spectrum of arts, charitable, commercial, cultural, governmental, heritage, private and social groups, primarily in Scotland. Some of the better known are identified below. In addition, the Foundation responds regularly to an equally wide variety of requests for information from individuals on both sides of the Atlantic. Examples of these are indicated in the Foundation Annual Reports.

The American-Scottish Foundation® recently received the following message from the City of Edinburgh Council following their visit to New York and meetings with and through the ASF on 20th July 2010:

Councillor Jenny Dawe, Leader of the City of Edinburgh Council, Greg Ward, Head of Economic Development, and Ailsa Falconer of Destination Edinburgh Marketing Alliance (DEMA) were delighted to be able to join the BBQ event. Councillor Dawe said that the evening was an excellent opportunity to meet a wide range of contacts engaged in Scottish American connections. Edinburgh looks forward to working with the American-Scottish Foundation on raising awareness of the mutual business, cultural and educational opportunities arising with New York and the US.
