Supporting the John Muir Nature Trail In Van Cortlandt Park

On Friday, June 5, 2009 the 12th Annual John Muir Charity Golf Tournament will be held at the Van Cortlandt Park Golf Course, the oldest public golf course in the country. You are cordially invited to join us and be a part of this fun-filled day.

The tournament salutes John Muir, a great American-Scot, and Father of the U.S. National Park Service and Founder of the Sierra Club. Proceeds from the Tournament help fund Van Cortlandt Park's highly successful summer internship program providing scholarships, supplies and equipment to maintain the trail.

Tournament partners, with The American-Scottish Foundation, Inc. are The New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, Kea New York, American Australian Association, Van Cortlandt Park Conservancy, Friends of Van Cortlandt Park and Van Cortlandt Golf LLC.

Tournament registration begins at 11:00 am and closes at 12:15 to ensure a prompt tee-off at 12:30 pm. A box lunch is included. Registrations are limited and taken in order received. A registration form is enclosed and must be returned by May 27. If you wish to further support the cause, also enclosed is a sponsor agreement, which needs to reach us by Wednesday, May 13 in order to be published in the program. Sponsorship at any level will be much appreciated.

The Tournament's "scramble/best ball" format encourages participation at all levels and its informal nature encourages networking among participants. At the end of the tournament, participants gather on the covered deck of the golf house, overlooking a lake, for a whisky tasting followed by dinner (featuring barbecued New Zealand lamb) and the awards ceremony.
