Mission
The mission of The American-Scottish Foundation® is to be the pre-eminent, national, US-based not-for-profit membership organization dedicated to strengthening ties between individuals, institutions and businesses of Scotland and the United States through the pursuit of contemporary social, cultural, educational, philanthropic, scientific and economic interests and activities.
The American-Scottish Foundation® champions the extraordinary and creative relationship between the US and Scotland for mutual benefit.
Function & Purpose
The Foundation is:
- Inclusive
- National in scope
- Contemporary in focus
- Commercial, as well as, cultural in orientation
- A bridge between the United States and Scotland
- Facilitator, advisor and supporter, as required
- Operator of Scotland House
- Promoter of Scotland, its history, its present and its future

The Foundation's purpose is to conduct such activities as will enable it to fulfil its mission. Activities include fundraising, education, social interaction, facilitation, consultation and promotion of inward travel to Scotland. The Foundation's policy is to collaborate with and support Scottish cultural and commercial organizations.

Its membership policy is inclusive without regard to heritage, lineage or sex. Membership is open to corporations and institutions, as well as individuals.
