LIFE & LEGACY OF ANDREW CARNEGIE opens at the Museum of American Finance on April 4th, spotlighting Carnegie's love of Scotland and exploring his involvement and impact on topics from Philanthropy to Business, Education and Finance. ASF & the Museum of American Finance invite you to a Panel Discussion & Reception (6pm Lecture, 7pm Reception, April 10)

Opening remarks will be given by Dr. Vartan Gregorian, and the panel will be moderated by Peter Krass, author of "Carnegie".

BIG APPLE CLEF AWARD WINNER "SONG OF RETURN" TO PERFORM IN SHOWCASE WITH PHAMIE GOW

Scottish Law Societies Wine and Whisky Reception

Join for whiskey and wine to welcome a visiting delegation of the Scottish Arbitration Centre.  The reception, which will include a short presentation on the topic of international commercial arbitration in Scotland, begins at 6:30 p.m., at the New York offices of Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP (One Battery Park Plaza, Manhattan).  Registration is free, and colleagues and friends are warmly welcomed. St. Andrew's Cocktail Reception

The Saint Andrew’s Society of the State of New York will be hosting its annual cocktail reception celebrating National Tartan Day on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the New York Racquet and Tennis Club, 370 Park Ave., (52nd Street), NYC from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

This year the Society is honored to welcome the 2012 Parade Grand Marshal and award winning actor Brian Cox, CBE as its honored guest. The Society will also be joined by representatives of the Scottish Government to celebrate 2012 as the Year of Creative Scotland. Business attire (jacket and tie) or Cocktail Attire required.

Price: $60 per person for members and their guests, $80 per person for non-members.  Supported by Year of Creative Scotland 2012, Grant’s and Walkers.

TARTAN DAY OBSERVANCE


Join us on April 13 at 12.30pm as the ASF (Scottish Coalition NY State Representative and NY Tartan Day Founding Committee Member) observes this historic date with readings by Gerda Stevenson and music by Mike Ogletree.

Piper Andy Hamilton will play 'Farewell to the Creeks', 'A Border Ballad' and 'Scotland the Brave'.

The Declaration of Arbroath was signed on April 6th, 1320. Some 678 years later, in 1998, Senate Resolution 155 was passed, designating April 6 as National Tartan Day "to recognize the outstanding achievements and contributions made by Scottish Americans to the United States".

No tickets required - this is a FREE event.

On Friday, April 13th, the much mythologized and dearly missed ScotBarNY Cup finally makes its triumphant return. Whether you're a soccer regular, a rookie, or have been meaning to dust off your boots for years, come join us for an afternoon of footballing fun. Warm-up with jigs and reels at the NY Caledonian Club’s world famous pre-parade ceilidh on Friday night. Held at Abigail Adams, 417 East 61 Street (between 1st Ave. and York Ave.) Booking strongly advised.
