The Foundation continues to be active in building a unified American-Scottish community in New York City and in the U.S. Under the Foundation’s sponsorship two National Tartan Day Committees for New York City have been formed; a Core Committee and a Steering Committee. At present, the Core Committee consists of the Foundation, The St. Andrew Society of the State of New York and the Caledonian Club of New York City. The Core Committee, representing those entities that have a vested interest in the perpetuation of National Tartan Day, is assuming responsibility for its safeguarding and celebration of NTD in New York City in perpetuity.

A fund is to be established to ensure the Core Committee's, ability to carry out this mission. For the first four years of NTD's existence the Foundation assumed financial and organization responsibility for NTD's New York City and Washington, DC celebrations.

The Steering Committee includes, in addition to the Core Committee members, representatives of such other entities as are interested in the event, either as friends, participants, sponsors or promoters. The latter include The British Consulate, The British Tourist Authority, VisitScotland, NYC/Parks & Recreation and Walkers Shortbread.

The Mission of the newly formed reads as follows:

"The mission of the New York National Tartan Day Committee is to mount a program of high quality events, in cooperation with local and Scottish participants, annually focused around April 6 in recognition of National Tartan Day, the purposes of which are to celebrate (and educate about) the historic and current contributions of Scots and those of Scottish descent to the world with particular emphasis on the U.S. and New York and to recognize the longstanding ties that exist between Scotland and the United States."

The Core Committee's expectation is that all parties wishing to take advantage of National Tartan Day in New York City in future will allocate a portion of their funding and/or event proceeds to the Core Committee to ensure NTD’s continued existence.

Until the Core Committee is formally established with its own contact information, those wishing information may contact the Committee via the Foundation.
