Aye Write<\/a><\/span>, Glasgow’s Book Festival\u00a0is a wonderful celebration of literature and ideas featuring over 100 authors and runs this year May 14th – 23rd. Presented by Glasgow Life<\/a> <\/span>the program is full of\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Scottish and international literary talents with a program full of great readings, panels, workshops and discussions. Founded in 2005, Aye Write celebrates the best in national, international and and local writing. This year this year Aye Write is taking place as a fully online event and we’re very pleased to let you know more about the festival!<\/span><\/p>\n

With over 100 authors appearing as part of Aye Write this year of course it’s hard to single out particular highlights but here are a few from this wonderful program billed as a festival of ideas.<\/span><\/p>\n

Andrew Marr was born in Glasgow. He studied English at the University of Cambridge and has since enjoyed a long career in political journalism, working for the Scotsman, the Independent, the Daily Express and the Observer. From 2000 to 2005 he was the BBC’s Political Editor. He has written and presented TV documentaries on history, science and politics, and presents the weekly Andrew Marr Show on Sunday mornings on BBC1 and Start the Week on Radio 4. He will be sharing the list of his favourite books with Ruth Wishart.<\/span><\/div>\n

Douglas Stuart’s Shuggie Bain became only the the second Scottish novel to win the coveted Man Booker Prize in 2020 and is a gripping depiction of life in Glasgow in 1981.<\/span><\/div>\n
