January 20th, the American-Scottish Foundation celebrated their 28th Annual Burns Night Celebration, commemorating Robert Burns, Scotland\u2019s National Bard, through words and music. <\/strong>The evening brought together leading members of the Scottish American community including HM British Consul General, Emma Wade Smith and Chris Thomson, Head of Scottish Government in the USA<\/strong> who joined over 250 guests celebrating in true Scottish style. Amongst the guests were Michael Malone, Mark Rifkin, Ashley and Steve Ganz, David Disi and Michael McCabe, <\/strong>Breaking with tradition the whisky bearers were all women –Rebecca Bales, Elizabeth Cassis and Rebecca Rawson.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Burns<\/strong> family members to the Bells and Kellers<\/strong>, there were many leading members of the Scottish community in the room and later leading the enthusiastic reeling!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the whisky tasting cocktail hour, overseen by Whisky Ambassador Robin Robinson<\/strong>, guests were piped into dinner where a formal Burns Supper then took place. Kenneth Donnelly, Chairman<\/strong>, American Scottish Foundation<\/strong>, heralded the arrival of the Haggis which was ceremoniously piped in by NYU Pipe Major James Felder<\/strong> and Addressed with great gusto by Robbi Munro<\/strong>. With musical tributes from the award winning team of Claire Mackenzie and Scott Gilmour of Noisemaker<\/strong> the evening concluded with “enthusiastic” reeling – together with on line bidding on over 80 items in the on line auction in support of the ASF Youth Bursary programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
