The 13th Annual John Muir Golf Tournament
supporting the John Muir Nature Trail In Van Cortlandt Park

The 13th Annual John Muir Golf Tournament will be a “scramble,” using the Callaway system of scoring to decide eligibility for individual and team prizes.

Registration for golfers is at 11:00 am, for a 12:15pm tee off. The Awards BBQ to follow will start at 5:30pm.

The tournament is hosted by the American-Scottish Foundation® in association with the Van Cortlandt Park Conservancy , Kea, and NYC Department of Parks & Recreation.  Proceeds will benefit local youth internships and for the upkeep of the 1.7 mile John Muir Nature Trail, established in 1997 as the first east-west connecting trail in the park. It was named for the renowned Scottish-born naturalist, John Muir, who is considered the “Father of American Conservation”.

John Muir was born in Dunbar, Scotland, on April 21, 1838, immigrating to Wisconsin as a child.  He was Founding President of the Sierra Club, and instrumental in establishing the National Park System. Van Cortlandt Park has 1,146 acres of forest, wetlands and meadows with 13 miles of trails.

"This tournament recognizes John Muir, an American-Scot, and acknowledges this country’s indebtedness to him as the pioneer of environmentalism,” says Alan Bain, president emeritus of the American-Scottish Foundation.
