The Young Scot Wallace Award
Scott Gilmour and Claire McKenzie
In 2012, Scot Gilmour and Claire McKenzie formed the musical theatre writing partnership Noisemaker while at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow. Their first show, Forest Boy, premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2013 and subsequently went on to the New York Musical Festival in 2016. Subsequently, Noisemaker have written, developed and produced over twenty new works across the UK, the US and internationally.
Using music, song, humour and heart, the pair seek to tell stories that bring people together to connect, and sometimes challenge, our sense of humanity.
"When I first met Noisemaker, they had recently graduated from RCS had just beaten our 900 other entries to bring their production of Forest Boy to the New York Music Festival. That was eight years ago, since which time the ASF has worked closely with them to showcase and promote their work, with them performing at many of our events. They are truly representative of Scotland's musical theatre of today". - Camilla G Hellman,

The mission remains as relevant today as when ASF was founded - to champion the extraordinary relationship between the peoples of Scotland and the United States - a bridge between the two great countries - seeking to strengthen & support the future of the Scottish American diaspora, and its legacy.
The Wallace Award®s evening benefits the ongoing work of the Foundation and allows ASF to further our mission of strengthening ties between Scotland and the United States through the pursuit of contemporary social, cultural, educational and business activities. It is the most significant event for the ASF during the year and the selection of Honorees is done with much thought and deliberation.
