The Scots Who Built New York:

The Scots Who Founded
the United States

To mark the 250th anniversary of the United States, we’re thrilled to bring you the US premiere of Atlantic: A Scottish Story - an unforgettable live performance of the award-winning podcast series and the hit Edinburgh Fringe production.

Thirteen signers of the Declaration of Independence were Scots or of Scottish Descent.

We will explore the influences of Scots and Scottish Events which since the eleventh century inspired our Founding Fathers to create a democratic form of government.

Scotland’s history has been a struggle for independence for centuries. These events and the Scottish Enlightenment led to an understanding of what “Government by the People” should be. We will meet these Scots and witness their contributions to the founding of our country.

For those who come a little early to the program, the Aresenal Gallerey is hosting an exhibit entitled "Sarah Yuster: Outside Vopices."

The exhibit highlights the many faces—and voices—of environmental stewardship within the lustrous oil paintings of Staten Island-based artist Sarah Yuster, on view at the Arsenal Gallery in Central Park this spring.

Sarah Yuster: Outside Voices features "in situ” portraits of biological science professionals, ecological conservation activists, and hobbyists. From actress Isabella Rossellini, champion of the Ramble in Central Park, to Myisha Humphrey, NYC Parks' Staten Island nursery operations supervisor, this intersectional and cross-generational presentation highlights the importance of diversity within environmental stewardship.

This exhibit is free and open to the public.
