Atlantic: A Scottish Story
by Noisemaker

Atlantic highlights the rich musical traditions that have  influenced American music folk, bluegrass and country music, creating a powerful bridge across cultures.

Set against the backdrop of the remote island of St Kilda, Atlantic weaves original and traditional Scottish music with true stories and rich characters to tell a deeply moving tale of a community on the edge of the world.

Atlantic: A Scottish Story is part of the Carnegie Hall Festivals - United in Sound: America at 250 programing.

Join creators Scott Gilmour and Claire Mckenzie (Noisemaker), alongside acclaimed artist Kirsty Findlay (The List Hot 100 Artists 2024) who will lead in bringing this powerful celebration of life.


The Highland Divas

Marla Kavanaugh, Margaret Kelly & Georgia Johnson - Three women, two from Scotland, and one from New Zealand, with diverse musical backgrounds and a common heritage. Their music will take you on a journey spanning the folk music of Ireland, Scotland and New Zealand and culminating in the soaring heights of Rock Opera.


The Ellisland Trio
featuring the Robert Burns Family Flute

After 150 years, this treasured Burns family heriloom, the Burns Family Flute, is brought back to life by acclaimed flautist Claire Mann who is joined alongside Robyn Stapleton (vocals) and Wendy Stewart (harp). The trio played songs from The Ellisland Songbook, including Auld Lang Syne, John Anderson, My Jo, and Ye Banks and Braes, all composed by Burns during his years at the Dumfriesshire farm.

Ellisland Project sets to preserve Burns farm and develop a cultural center.

ATLANTIC: A SCOTTISH STORY was developed with students from The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Northwestern University in Chicago before it’s premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2017.

The show was awarded a coveted Herald Angel Award recognizing, not just the show itself, but Noisemakers commitment to expanding the Edinburgh Festival as a platform for new musical theatre; both in Scotland and internationally.
